Presenter Biographies

Shahid Anwar, Vice President & Unit Head Corporate Banking – Sharjah & N.E., Dubai Islamic Bank, UAE
Mr. Anwar is presently working as Vice President & Unit Head of Dubai Islamic Bank in Sharjah & N.Emirates. His previous assignments at DIB included appointment as a Unit Head in Jabel Ali and before that as a Team Leader in the Dubai Unit. Before joining DIB in 2004, Mr. Anwar had a comprehensive 8 years experience in conventional banking in corporate and investments in large local and regional banks like Emirates Bank International. His exposure to both conventional and Islamic banking has helped in better understanding the differences between their two forms. In addition to business development and transaction execution, he is also associated with product development at the corporate level. Mr. Anwar has an MBA in finance and accounting from Sam Houston State University, TX and also holds a Diploma in Accounting from the University of Central England. On the professional side, he holds a professional diploma in banking along with a Series – 7 license from NYSE.

Mahan Bolourchi, Head of Risk G.C.C., Euler Hermes, Dubai, UAE
Mr. Bolourchi studied and achieved a BA of ‘Internationaler Betriebswirt’ at the Euro Business College in Hamburg and a Diploma in International Business Administration at EBC-Deutschland GmbH. He commenced his role as Head of Risk Management G.C.C. for Euler Hermes, UAE, in July 2007; prior to which he has enjoyed roles as Senior Export Credit Manager with EH Kreditversicherung AG in Hamburg (2000 to 2004), Head of Information and Project Manager, Senior Credit Manager and Head of Risk Management Domestic with Euler Hermes Switzerland in Zurich (2004 to 2007). Mr. Bolourchi specialises in financial analysis, credit risk assessment, strategic analysis and market research.

Adnan Ghani, Global Head of Trade, Transaction Banking, ABN AMRO, UK
Mr. Ghani is Global Head of Trade, Transaction Banking, at ABN AMRO and responsible for the bank’s range of trade financing solutions and services for both multi-national corporate and mid-market buyers worldwide. He is highly experienced at advising corporate buyers exactly why trade finance matters to them. At ABN AMRO, Adnan made trade finance more flexible, efficient and transparent by using automation and straight-through processing to reduce paperwork, lower costs, eliminate errors and provide easier reconciliation.  As a result, ABN AMRO has developed a web-based system, known as the MaxTrad platform, which delivers greater trading detail to clients, and also allows suppliers to automatically reconcile invoices and purchase orders, whilst gaining easier finance.Over the past eleven years, Mr. Ghani has held a variety of senior management roles within ABN AMRO at a Global, European and Regional level with the transaction banking, commercial and consumer banking arenas.

Margaret Godbold, Strategic Account Director, IRC Europe Ltd., UK
Ms. Godbold is responsible for the service and development of IRC’s larger credit insured clients. Previously she was Managing Director of Transamerica Distribution Finance Credit Insurance Services Ltd in the UK, subsequently taken over by GE Commercial Distribution Finance Ltd. Prior to that Ms. Godbold worked in senior broking roles in Jardine Lloyd Thomson Ltd and Willis Coroon Ltd; as well as the UK’s Export Credit Guarantee Department. She has 36 years experience in credit insurance and been involved in all aspects of credit insurance broking and some underwriting, specialising in recent years in Global represented businesses and respective CI programmes worldwide.

Kersi Patel, Regional Head Trade and Supply Chain, HSBC Bank Middle East, Dubai, UAE
Mr. Patel is the Regional Head for HSBC's Trade and Supply Chain business in the Middle East. He joined HSBC in India in 1986 after graduation in Engineering and post graduation in Financial Management. He has over 20 years experience in managing large multi-location operations and products and support service teams, spread over a wide spectrum of banking businesses such as Personal Banking, Corporate Banking and Treasury Services. Mr Patel has spent a substantial part of his career – over 12 years - in building and managing various areas of International Trade Finance business. He is also a very active participant in the industry and a regular speaker at various HSBC, ICC and FCIB events both locally and globally on international trade related topics.topics.

Pradeep Taneja, Chair – ICC Bahrain Trade Finance Forum and Vice President-Head of Trade Finance Services, Al Salam Bank, Bahrain

Mr. Taneja is a member of the URDG Drafting Group. He also served as a member of the UCP 600 Consulting Group comprising of 41 global experts drawn from banking, insurance, legal and transport sectors. Mr Taneja possesses 28 years of banking experience, with almost 26 years in Trade Finance alone at various levels of hierarchy. He is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB) and a Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS); a certification endorsed by the International Chamber of Commerce, France and jointly awarded by the Institute of Financial Studies, UK and International Financial Services Association, USA.

A member of ICC Banking Commission, Paris, Mr Taneja is a DOCDEX expert under the Documentary Instruments Dispute Resolution Service offered by the International Centre of Expertise of the ICC Banking Commission. He is also a Chartered member of the Middle East Regional Advisory Council of the Institute of International Banking Law & Practice, USA, and has served as Expert Panelist Speaker at the ICC India and JP Morgan Chase sponsored Annual LC Survey Conferences of the IIBLP at India (2006) and Dubai in (2005, 2006 and 2007). He also spoke on UCP 600 at FCIB’s International Conference in Dubai in March 2007.
