Speaker: Chris Kuehl, Ph.D., Managing Director of Armada Corporate Intelligence

2008 is the Year of the Rat - a most challenging and mysterious character in Chinese zodiac. Will global economic conditions faced this year resemble the rat's positive characteristics - thrifty and prone towards setting aside money for a rainy day - or will the year bring forth those negative traits of taking on too much and then scrambling for survival? This is a transition year in Europe and the US, posing some vexing problems. The first two quarters of the year will feel like a recession in the US and Europe. Even if we manage to escape one formally, by most accounts the latter part of the year improves. When does the recovery start? And what kind of damage will be done before we begin that recovery? How will the strains of the year impact Asia and Europe differently than in the US? In this teleseminar we will present three scenarios and rank them - a bleak version that has the global economy still mired in very slow growth by year's end, a middle range option that sees some solid recovery but not until well into the third quarter and the optimistic one that holds that progress will be visible before the summer ends. There will be a slide presentation accompanying the teleseminar and questions will be encouraged.
