Real GDP growth in China has been remarkably stable between 6.5 percent and 7.0 percent for the past two years due, at least in part, to policy tweaks by the Chinese government. Now that house prices are rising sharply again in some of China’s largest cities, it appears that authorities are reining in some policy stimulus. We look for real GDP growth in China to slow modestly later this year and into 2018.
